Agartala (Tripura):West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo's nephew Abhishek Banerjee's convoy came under attack in Tripura's capital - Agartala. The TMC MP has alleged that his convoy came under attack and also shared the video on Twitter. Abhishek Banerjee, who is considered the political successor of Mamata Banerjee, is currently in Tripura. Today, he offered prayers at the Tripureswari temple in Udaipur. Significantly, Abhishek Banerjee has reached the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Tripura as part of the outreach campaign. His visit coincided after the controversy erupted in the state after police placed Prashant Kishor's I-Pac team of election strategists in a hotel room, citing Covid-19 restrictions.

Since the incident, TMC leaders have been visiting Tripura. These include West Bengal ministers Bratya Basu and Moloy Ghatak, TMC MP Derek O'Brien. TMC sources said Abhishek Banerjee will host a meeting with party members and will hold a press conference. Tripura is going for assembly election in 2023 and TMC is looking to cement their party base in the state.
