Three drown in Ramdaha falls in Chhattisgarh

An official said that the trio, who were among a group of 13, had come to the falls for a picnic.

Koriya:After extensive search, the body of a third youth who drowned in the Ramdaha falls in Chhattisgarh's Koriya on Saturday, was recovered by divers on Sunday morning. The body of Deepak Gupta, who drowned after he ventured into deep waters, could not initially be found. The rescuers earlier had fished out bodies of his companions Vimal Gupta and Ramkishore Patel.

An official said that the trio, who were among a group of 13, had come to the falls for a picnic. Soon after the incident, the officials from Kotadol police station reached the spot and with the help of local villagers fished out the bodies of the two youths from the water. Deepak's body was fished out by a team of Home Guards from nearby Baikanthpur.

The group had come from Manpur in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district. Similar incidents of drowning have been reported at the falls in the past. A probe has been initiated into the matter, with the police also questioning other members of the group.
