Aizawl (Mizoram): Despite the meeting between Assam and Mizoram in Aizawl, tensions continue to escalate in Assam-Mizoram border. On Saturday, angry locals vandalized four Mizoram-bound trucks at Bhaga Bazar area in Cachar district. The development comes a day after the two states arrived at a mutual agreement on certain key points to maintain peace at the borders.
As per information, four vehicles carrying eggs left for Mizoram from Assam on Friday evening. As soon as they arrived at Bhaga Bazar area, the angry locals stopped them and questioned where the vehicles were headed to. The situation worsened when they learnt that the the trucks were heading towards Mizoram. Soon, the locals vandalized the vehicles and dumped egg cartons on the streets. Despite the agreement, economic blockade against Mizoram continues at Lailapur in Cachar district.
