44 attacks on temples in the past year: AP police

In total, 335 people have been arrested in temple attacks, according to DGP. 43,824 CCTV cameras were installed for continuous surveillance.

Amaravati:335 people have been arrested in connection with attacks on temples in the state, said Gautam Sawang, DGP of Andhra Pradesh. Of these, 175 cases were said to have been cracked.

44 major temple attacks were reported in 2020-21. Of these, 29 cases have been cracked and 85 people have been arrested.

15,394 guards were deployed in 23,256 villages to protect the temples, said DGP. So far 58,871 temples have been linked with geo-tagging.

43,824 CCTV cameras were installed and continuous surveillance was maintained. Surveillance through CCTVs was confirmed in the main temple at Ramateertham.

Police were asked to provide information if suspicious movements were detected. The contact number 9392903400 was advertised for this purpose, said DGP.
