Telangana: Rahul calls Kaleshwaram project as KCR family ATM

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who visited Medigadda Barrage which is part of Keleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana, blamed the ruling KCR government for the poor construction of the structure. He claimed cracks have developed in multiple pillars because of shoddy construction and he aired his apprehensions that some pillars were sinking. He accused the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family of using the project as their personal ATM (automated teller machine).

Hyderabad:Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has trained his guns on the patriarch of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, K Chandrashekar Rao and his family of using the Kaleshwaram Project as their family ATM(automated teller machine), citing reports of poor construction leading to cracks in pillars and sinking of some pillars.

The Congress leader visited the Medigadda Barrage and shared pictures from his visit. The barrage is part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, and is located in poll-bound Telangana.

Rahul wrote: "Kaleshwaram Project = KCR Family ATM I visited the Medigadda barrage, which is a part of the corruption-ridden Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana. Cracks have developed in multiple pillars because of shoddy construction with reports indicating that the pillars are sinking. KCR and his family are using the Kaleshwaram Project as their personal ATM to plunder the people of Telangana."

He alleged the Kaleshwaram Project of being used has become like an "ATM" for KCR for making money, Rahul said in order to run this machine, all the families in Telangana would have to "shell out Rs 31,500 per annum till 2040".

He accused that Telangana has been looted to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore.

Telangana women will benefit Rs 4,000 per month- The former AICC chief said women in Telangana will benefit up to Rs 4,000 per month if Congress is voted to power in the ensuing November 30 assembly polls. He said the figure factors in the the social pension, savings on LPG cylinder and free travel in government buses.

Every month, Rs 2,500 will be deposited as social pension into women's bank accounts. Also, Rs 1,500 will be saved as the Congress, if voted to power, will supply a LPG cylinder, which is now costing Rs 1,000, at Rs 500 and another Rs 1,000 by way of free travel on government buses, he said.

"With all these you will benefit Rs 4,000 every month. This is called Parajala sarkar (people's government)," he explained in his brief address.
