Kerala: Youth arrested over teenager girlfriend's suicide

Jomon, a native of Kedangavila, has been arrested by the police in connection with the suicide of a minor girl in Thiruvananthapuram. Jomon visited the girl at her house while the girl and her sister were only there. According to reports, a quarrel between the two prompted the girl to take the extreme step.

Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested a youth in connection with the suicide of a ninth standard girl at Athiyannoor in Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram.

Jomon, a native of Kedangavila, has been arrested by the police in connection with the suicide. Jomon visited the girl at her house while the girl and her sister were only there. According to reports, a quarrel between the two prompted the girl to take the extreme step.

The girl locked herself inside a room before committing suicide by hanging. Jomon and her sister broke open the door and took her to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara. When the girl was declared dead by the hospital authorities, Jomon fled from the scene.

The deceased girl’s sister, in s statement to the police, said Jomon assaulted the girl. Based on this, Neyyattinkara police registered a case and started the investigation.

Later, the police nabbed Jomon and recorded his arrest. He will be produced before the Neyyattinkaraa Court on Sunday. The girl’s dead body was handed over to the family after the post mortem.
