New Delhi: Congress National General Secretary Tariq Anwar has questioned the decision of the Central government to change the name of the 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award'. He said that with this decision, Modi government has exposed itself. Tariq Anwar added that Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the country. He had an emotional attachment to the players. The country can't forget his contribution.

Veteran Congress leader Tariq Anwar added that the Modi government should have brought a new award instead of replacing the name of the 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award' with 'Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award'. He also said that the government should have instituted a new award on Major Dhyan Chand's name.

It is the work of the Modi government to change the name of everything from cities to colleges. This decision seems to be politically motivated. He added that we appreciate the strong performance by the hockey teams in the Tokyo Olympics but it's very unfortunate to change the name of 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award'.
