Taliban has assured safety to Indians stuck in Kabul: Manjinder Singh Sirsa

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the chief of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) informed that the Taliban leaders have met the president of the Kabul Gurdwara Committee and assured their safety.

New Delhi: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that he was in touch with the president of the Gurdwara Committee of Kabul regarding the safety of minorities, including Hindus and Sikhs in that country.

"I am in constant touch with President, Gurdwara Committee of Kabul and Sangat who have told me that more than 320 people of minorities living in Ghazni and Jalalabad (including 50 Hindus and more than 270 Sikhs) have taken refuge in Karte Parwan Gurdwara in Kabul in wake of recent developments. Taliban Leaders have met them and assured them of their safety. We are hopeful that Hindus and Sikhs would be able to live a safe and secure life despite political and military changes happening in Afghanistan," Sirsa added.

Mewanhile, India on Tuesday had brought back home its Indian Ambassador in Kabul and staff in a heavy-lift military transport aircraft amid the deteriorating security situation in the warn-torn nation. The C-17 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) landed at Jamnagar in Gujarat at around 11:15 am en route to the Hindon airbase near Delhi. Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Rudrendra Tandon after landing at Jamnagar, Gujarat said, "Your welcome has an impact on all of us. Thank you to the Indian Air Force who flew us out under conditions that are not normal."
