Moga (Punjab):Akali leader Takht Sri Patna Sahib Gurdwara Chief Avtar Singh Hit passed away at his New Delhi house on Saturday morning. He died due to cardiac arrest while he was reading a newspaper. BJP national president JP Nadda offered condolences over the demise of Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib Management Committee president and leader Avtar Singh Hit. He called it a "loss for society and the nation" and "a personal loss".

Takht Sri Patna Sahib Gurdwara Chief Avtar Singh Hit passed away at his New Delhi house on Saturday morning. He died due to cardiac arrest while he was reading a newspaper.
Hit was associated with Shiromani Akali Dal for a long time. SAD president Sukhbir Badal tweeted, "Saddened to learn about the demise of senior Akali leader & President, Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib Management Committee Jathedar Avtar Singh Hit Ji. On behalf of SAD, I send my condolences to his family. Hit sahab will be remembered for his contributions to the panth & party."
Hit was also active in Sikh politics of Delhi and was the former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
