Supreme Court stays arrest of Gehana Vassisth in porn film case

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court has stayed the arrest of actress Gehana Vassisth, giving her relief in the porn film case. So far, several arrests have been made in this case, including Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

Hyderabad:On Wednesday, the Supreme Court has stayed the arrest of actress Gehana Vassisth, giving her relief in the porn film case. So far, several arrests have been made in this case, including Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

Advocate Ajit Wagh, representing Vashisht, argued before a bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice BR Gavai that the prosecution had argued that there is a need to take her client (Gehana Vassisth) into custody to unearth the pornography racket. Ajit Wagh argued that Gehna was in custody for 133 days. After hearing the arguments in the case, the Supreme Court ordered that Gehana Vassisth should not be arrested and she should also join the investigation whenever required.

On 7 September, the Bombay High Court rejected Vassisth's anticipatory bail plea. She had filed an anticipatory bail plea fearing her arrest in an FIR registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Today, the Apex Court stayed the Bombay High Court order which had dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by her.
