Six people drown in pond in Telangana's Malkapuram

Five students and a teacher died after drowning in a pond in Telangana's Malkapuram on Saturday.

Malkapuram(Telangana):Five students and their teacher died after drowning in a pond in Telangana's Malkapuram on Saturday. All the students were identified as students of a Madrasa in Amberpet. All the students were aged between 12 to 14 years, sources said.

According to police, the students entered the lake to swim but couldn't come out. The teacher tried to save them from drowning but she also drowned in the pond.

The victims had come to the Malkapuram area to attend a function and the students expressed their desire to swim in the lake, sources said. On being informed, the police reached the spot.

Police said, "The bodies have been retrieved with the help of professional swimmers. The investigation in the matter is underway."
