Mumbai:Shraddha Walker's father Vikas Walker Friday expressed his dismay at the Vasai Police not helping them out at the right time. He went on to say that his daughter would have been alive if the Vasai police had acted promptly on their complaint. "I faced many problems because of the Vasai police, if they would have helped me, my daughter would have been alive," he said.
Talking about the accused Aaftab Poonawala he said, "I expect a similar lesson for Aaftab Poonwala in the way he murdered my daughter. The probe should be conducted against Aftab's family members, relatives and all others included in the incident." He also went on to say that Poonawala should be hanged.
Vikas Walker addressed the media for the first time Friday, minutes after his meet with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who has assured justice to the family. Walker was accompanied by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya in the morning. The Delhi Governor and DCP Delhi South have assured them justice, he mentioned in the press conference.
Earlier on November 2020, Shraddha Walkar had submitted a written complaint to Tulinj police asking for their help. "Poonawala has been abusing me and beating me up. Today, he tried to kill me by suffocating me and he scares and blackmails me that he will kill me, cut me up in pieces and throw me anyway. It's been six months he has been hitting me. But I did not have the guts to go to police because he would threaten to kill me," she wrote in the complaint which has now gone viral. Shraddha's father demanded an inquiry against the police officials of Vasai and Nalasopara and Tulinj police (in Palghar district) for their delayed investigation on Shraddha's complaint.
27-year-old Shraddha, was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, Aaftab Poonawala in South Delhi. She was reportedly strangled to death. Her body was then chopped into 35 pieces, stored in a newly bought 300-litre fridge for nearly three weeks and then disposed off by the accused at Mehrauli forest in a phased manner in May, this year.
Meanwhile, Aaftab Poonawala is lodged at Tihar Jail while the Delhi Police is deepening their investigation into the case. Poonawala's judicial custody has been extended by the Saket court by another 14 days on Friday.
