Shraddha murder: Accused Poonawala's bail plea deferred

The bones recovered by the police from the forests of Mehrauli have matched with the DNA of Shraddha's father Vikas Walkar. The police have also recovered the clothes of Shraddha from the forest which have been sent for forensic examination.

New Delhi: The hearing on the bail plea of Aftab Poonawala, accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case, has been postponed till 10 am on Saturday by the Saket court following a submission from the police. Earlier, accused Poonawala's lawyer MS Khan had applied to the court, seeking his client's bail which was to be heard at 10 am on Friday.

While talking to the media, MS Khan said, "The case was listed for hearing and I am hopeful that Aftab will be granted bail by the court today." Khan, while questioning the investigation of Delhi police so far in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, said, "There is a total disconnect between Delhi police's version in the case and the ground reality."

Khan further said, "the version of Delhi police in the case did not match with the actual situation in the case. So many things will come up for hearing in the court and I will reveal those aspects in the case before the court only. What is being projected in the public domain about the case is false. I will not reveal these things right now. My client didn't chop the body into several pieces."

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V K Saxena has approved a proposal for the appointment of Special Public Prosecutors in connection with the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

The bones recovered by the police from the forests of Mehrauli have matched the DNA of Shraddha's father Vikas Walkar. A new twist has come in this case with this information coming to the fore. According to Delhi Police sources, the bones will soon be sent to AIIMS for postmortem.

Sources said that an attempt to find out the exact day and time of Shraddha's murder through autopsy will also be made in this postmortem. The police have also recovered the clothes of Shraddha from the forest which have been sent for forensic examination.
