Patna: Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is set to suffer a big blow as its senior party leaders are likely to join the ruling Janata Dal-United (JDU) on Thursday.
Party sources said a section of the party leaders who are disgruntled with the style of functioning of junior Paswan, are all set to join JD(U) in the presence of JD(U) national president RCP Singh. JD(U) leaders Bijendra Yadav, Sanjay Jha, Vijay Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary along others will be present on the occasion.
As per the information, the joining programme will be held at JD(U)'s office at 2 pm on Thursday.
Rameshwar Chaurasiya, a multiple-term BJP MLA from Nokha, quit the saffron party after the seat which he had lost in 2015 to RJD, went to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U), giving a major setback to Chirag Paswan.
In his handwritten letter, screenshots of which have gone viral on the social media, Chaurasiya thanked Chirag Paswan for having chosen him as the party candidate in the assembly elections but expressed his inability to continue working for the LJP.
