Security breach during PM Modi's rally in Karnataka Davanagere (Karnataka): Karnataka police detained a man for trying to approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an unauthorized manner during a roadshow in Davanagere on Saturday giving rise to concerns over the Prime Minister's security. The man dogged the barricade and ran towards Modi's convoy, moments before the police and security personnel caight hold of him and overpowered him. A video of the incident has surfaced, and the incident is the second attempted security breach after the incident in Hubballi district.
However, ADGP Law and Order Alok Kumar ruled out any security breach and tweeted, "As being reported in a section of media, there was no breach in security as such of Hon'ble PM at Davangere today. It was an unsuccessful attempt. He was caught immediately by myself and SPG at a safe distance. Appropriate action is being taken in this regard".
PM Modi was on a day's visit to Karnataka on Saturday. At around 10.45 am, the PM inaugurated Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) at Chikkaballapur and later at around 1 pm, Modi inaugurated Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro. He also undertook a ride in the metro.
At Chikkaballapur, the PM launched the initiative aimed at helping students avail new opportunities besides providing accessible and affordable healthcare in the region. The SMSIMSR has been established by Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur. It is located in a rural area and has been established with a vision of de-commercialising medical education and healthcare, a release from the Prime Minister's Office said. It will provide medical education and quality medical care and it will be doled out completely at free of cost to everyone. The institute will start functioning from the academic year 2023, the release said.
In Bengaluru, the PM who has a special focus on the development of world class urban mobility infrastructure across the country launched the newly constructed Metro line. He launched the 13.71 km stretch from Whitefield (Kadugodi) Metro to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Reach-1 extension project under Bangalore Metro Phase 2. He inaugurated it from Whitefield (Kadugodi) Metro Station. The project was built at a cost of around Rs 4250 crores. The inauguration of this metro line will provide a clean, safe, rapid and comfortable travel facility to commuters in Bengaluru, enhancing ease of mobility and reducing traffic congestion in the city, the PMO said.
