Currently, the Chief Wildlife Conservator, Mudumalai Field Director and the District Forest Officer and trained veterinarians to shoot the tranquillizers have rushed back into the forest.

The forest department has been actively involved in the task of capturing the tiger. Earlier on the day, Madras High Court ordered the forest department to capture the tiger alive and not to shoot it.

Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee in his order said, "the wanted tiger may not be a man-eater. Don't kill it. Capture the Tiger alive without disturbing other animals." He also ordered to file a report on the process of capturing the tiger.

The T23 tiger has killed four people so far and the hunt for the tiger goes on for more than 10 days. The human-wild animal conflict has become a frequent issue in this zone. After the death of the fourth person, Masingudi villagers hit the roads and led a protest to capture the tiger or kill the big cat.

People blocked the road for more than three hours. Following the developments, Tamil Nadu Chief Wildlife Warden Shekhar Kumar Niraj issued an order to hunt down T23 and formed five special teams for the operation.

Many wildlife activists across the country raised their concern against the killing of T-23 and urged the department to capture it alive at any cost. The forest department also made it clear that it has not intended to kill the tiger and they're trying the best possible means to capture it without any harm.
