Thiruvananthapuram:International experts taking part in the Covid review meeting in the capital has suggested that there is no need to worry about the spread of Covid in Kerala. Schools can be reopened and Sunday's lockdown and night curfew can be avoided.

The experts, mainly epidemiologists, virologists and public health activists at the meeting opined that Kerala, which had been at the forefront of the first wave of resistance, had not seen any decline in the second wave and the state had succeeded in reducing the incidence of the disease and the mortality rate.

The meeting, which was attended by health experts from different countries and heads of medical colleges in the state, lasted for more than three hours. This is the first time a comprehensive meeting has been held on Covid.

The current outbreak will continue for two months. Then the virus, similar to the fever, will continue for a few more years. Experts say they will have to adopt the lifestyle of living with Covid.

Newly developed variants survive the Covid vaccination. But taking the vaccine can reduce the severity of the disease and the mortality rate.

Experts said that the risk of transmission of the disease was low among children between the ages of five and 15 and that Kerala would be safer with the completion of adult vaccination.
