New Delhi:The Supreme Court bench led by the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, issued a notice on the petition filed by Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa, against the High Court order refusing to quash criminal proceedings against him on an illegal land denotification case.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi appearing for Karanataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa argued before the court today that no court can take cognizance against him as he was the Chief Minister at the time of allegations and he is also the Chief Minister now.

The bench also comprising of Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian said that first they want to hear the parties and will issue notice.

Advocate Rohtagi sought a stay on arrest to which CJI responded saying, "You are a sitting Chief Minister, who can issue a warrant against you?". He added that for CMs a letter of requests is issued, not warrants.
