Sushmita Dev lauds Mamata after getting elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha

No other political opponent fielded any candidate against her so the Trinamool Congress candidate Sushmita Dev got elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. On Monday after the routine scrutiny, she was declared the winner and given the winner's certificate.

Kolkata: No other political opponent fielded any candidate against her so the Trinamool Congress candidate Sushmita Dev got elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. On Monday after the routine scrutiny, she was declared the winner and given the winner's certificate.

Interacting with the media persons after stepping into the West Bengal assembly, she said that she will try to fulfil the duties and assignments conferred on her by West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. "West Bengal is my second home. For the first time, I got elected unopposed. And that has been possible because of the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee," said Dev who has recently joined Trinamool Congress from Congress.

She also said that currently, the only face of opposition in the entire country is Mamata Banerjee. "She will lead the movement to free the country of BJP rule in the coming days. I never thought that I would pursue my political career from Assam after getting elected from West Bengal. Within the Parliament, I will raise my voice for Bengal and the entire North-East India. I will raise my voice for the sake of farmers, small traders, and the working class," she said.
