New Delhi: At the invitation of National Security Adviser Ajit K. Doval, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, General Nikolay Patrushev is visiting India for a High-Level India-Russia Inter-Governmental Consultations on Afghanistan starting from 7-8 September. Patrushev is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Tuesday evening and will meet India's NSA tomorrow.

The visit comes at a time the world is witnessing a massive tragedy unfold in Afghanistan after the Taliban gained control in the war-torn country. Earlier on Monday, addressing media, Russian ambassador Nikolay Kudashev shared concern of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan spreading to Kashmir amid the Taliban takeover of Kabul.
