New Delhi:Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Friday extended former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's judicial custody in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case of the now-scrapped excise policy till June 2.

Earlier, on May 9, the court had extended his judicial custody till May 23 in the case probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 and then by the ED on March 9.

Last month, the court's Special CBI Judge MK Nagpal had denied bail to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader on the ground that evidence implies his involvement in the offence. The court had then extended his custody till May 12. At the hearing today, Sisodia's judicial custody was extended till June 2.

On April 3, Sisodia had moved Delhi High Court seeking bail citing his wife's illness. He submitted that his wife has been suffering from multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease for the last 20 years and her health condition was bad.

The Delhi High Court, during its hearing on May 11, had reserved its judgement while ordering the jail authorities to make necessary arrangements so that Sisodia could speak to his wife through video conference every alternate day between 3-4 pm.

Earlier, CBI had opposed Sisodia's bail plea on April 10 saying that he had the power to influence the investigations. The agency had argued that the former deputy chief minister held excise department along with several others and had allegedly attempted destroying evidence on his mobile phone. It was further alleged that he might have had some involvement in the missing file that contained policy documents.
