Lucknow:Nearly 3,000 Rohingyas are staying in Uttar Pradesh under fake names, identities and are involved in terror funding and hawala trading, sources close to the matter have revealed.
After Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad on January 6 arrested an alleged Myanmar national of Rohingya community illegally living in the state's Sant Kabir Nagar district for the last 18 years, more information has come under the light.
Two Indian passports with fake identity credentials were found on arrested Azizul Haq and his mobile phone was also taken for investigation.
On the basis of these inquiries, it was ascertained that a large number of Rohingyas are living in Aligarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
