Resettle those displaced from Afghanistan in Rampur: UP Minister tells Amit Shah

Uttar Pradesh's Minister of State for Jal Shakti Baldev Singh Aulakh has requested the Centre's assistance in settling those displaced from Afghanistan in the Rampur district. The UP minister has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the same.

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh's Minister of State for Jal Shakti Baldev Singh Aulakh has requested the Centre's assistance in settling those displaced from Afghanistan in the Rampur district. The minister has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the same. He also said that all arrangements would be made to help those families to resettle and help them in finding a livelihood.

The minister in his letter had reportedly mentioned that many Hindu and Sikh families displaced from Afghanistan were brought to India by the Centre as part of the evacuation process, adding that the people of Bilaspur were ready to give land in Rampur district. Minister Aulakh who is also the Bilaspur MLA added that even agricultural land would be made available for the displaced.

Minister Aulakh also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for having evacuated all those stranded from Afghanistan in a very safe manner. "Our Holy Guru Granth Sahib, their copies have been brought to India with full respect and our Union Minister Hardeep Puri placed them in the Gurdwaras with full respect," Aulakh added.

India earlier had announced that it would issue an emergency e-visa to Afghans looking forward to flying down to the sub-continent, given the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
