Mumbai: Independent MP Navneet Rana was released from Byculla Jail on Thursday afternoon and was taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for a medical check-up but later she was admitted there.
Earlier in the day, Mumbai's Borivali Court issued the release order of Navneet Rana and her husband, Ravi Rana, MLA, who was arrested after they declared that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence. While exiting the Taloja jail in a car on Thursday, Ravi Rana was seen holding Hanuman Chalisa in his hand. Soon after his release, he met his wife at Lilavati Hospital.
Ravi Rana was seen having an emotional reunion with his wife Navneet after 12 days in jail. Pictures of the duo's reunion surfaced in which Ravi Rana can be seen consoling Navneet who is lying on the hospital bed. Navneet and Ravi, who was granted bail on Wednesday morning, were not released from jail yesterday as their release orders could not be obtained from the concerned magistrate court in due time. The MP-MLA couple was arrested on April 23 from their Mumbai residence after they declared that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Uddhav Thackeray's home in Bandra.
The legal process of furnishing Rs 50,000 each for the Rana couple's surety amount has been completed in court. From the Borivali court, one team of lawyers of the Rana couple left for Taloja Jail for the release of Ravi Rana, and another team for Byculla Jail, where Navneet Rana was lodged. Navneet Rana's lawyer had dropped a copy of her release order in the bail box placed outside Byculla Jail.
