Rakesh Tikait slams Amarinder Singh for not supporting farmers' movement

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has reacted to Captain Amarinder Singh's meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday. During an interaction with ETV Bharat, Tikait said that holding discussions doesn't mean that there is a solution.

New Delhi:Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has reacted to Captain Amarinder Singh's meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday. During an interaction with ETV Bharat, Tikait said that holding discussions doesn't mean that there is a solution. Tikait said, "No one talked to us about farmers' movement. We do not know whether a solution will be found after this meeting. Captain Amarinder Singh is not involved in the central government. Talks do not mean a solution. Even farmers had talks with the government many times but nothing came about,"

He also refused to accept Captain Amarinder Singh as a mediator in the farmers' movement and said that Amarinder Singh is no longer in the government. He did not support the farmers' movement. In Punjab, agitating farmers were prosecuted and beaten with batons.

Tikait added that talks will start when they receive an invitation for the same. "The government can talk directly to the farmers because we are sitting at its doorstep. In fact, the government is weaving a web and people should not get trapped into it," he opined. Reiterating the demand for the withdrawal of agricultural laws and legislation on MSP, Rakesh Tikait also dismissed any kind of political angle to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha.
