Sirsa(Haryana):Samyukt Kisan Morcha member and farmer leader Rakesh Tikait along with other farmers today participated in a Maha Kisan Panchayat being held in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Haryana's Hisar. The farmers were protesting against the increasing sedition cases being slapped against the farmers. After the Mahapanchayat the farmers will gherao the office of the Sirsa Superintendent of Police. To avoid any untoward incidents, police administration has beefed up the security with a three-layer barricading in front of the mini secretariat. The farmer leaders claimed that this demonstration would be held in a peaceful manner.

Earlier, on July 11, the vehicle of Haryana Deputy Speaker Ranbir Gangwa was attacked when he was returning after attending a program organized at Chaudhary Devi Lal University in Sirsa district of Haryana. It is alleged that when the Deputy Speaker and other BJP leaders were returning after the program, the farmers stopped their convoy and started pelting stones. It is also being alleged that the farmers broke the glass of the Deputy Speaker's vehicle and also pelted stones at the police following, over 100 farmers have been booked for sedition by Sirsa police.
