Proceedings in Rajya Sabha resumed amid ruckus by Opposition. Opposition MPs ventured into the Well of the House and intensified sloganeering.

New Delhi: Proceedings in Rajya Sabha resumed amid ruckus by the Opposition. Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia while answering a query said flight charges need to be brought down in such a way that people wearing 'hawwai' chappals are able to afford it. He also said the next round of bidding for airports will start soon.

On his part, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said drainage systems are being made clog free under AMRUT project. Urban local bodies need to address the issue. Regarding smart cities, he said, 100 projects were piloted under the auspices of respective state governments.

Meanwhile, Opposition MPs ventured into the Well of the House and intensified sloganeering. They displayed placards showing 'Stop Snooping'. Tiruchi Siva, Elamaram Kareem, MPs refused to raise questions saying it is impossible to ask when the House in not in order.

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill is to be taken for consideration and passing today. The Opposition parties have been pressing upon issues including Pegasus snooping row, farm laws, Covid crisis since the commencement of Monsoon Session.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu made a remark on Dholavira, a Harappan-era city in Gujarat's Rann of Kutch which recently got the World Heritage Site tag by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The Marine Aids to Navigation Bill 2021 was passed on Tuesday through voice vote amid the continuous din.
