The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021 was taken up for discussion. Moments after the motion was moved by Smriti Irani, Minister of Women and Child Development, the House was adjourned following disruptions.
The Upper House passed the Marine Aids to Navigation Bill, 2021 amid the continuous din. Apart from the change in usage of the term marine aids to navigation, the Bill intends to create a new framework to establish and manage vessel traffic services. The colonial-era Lighthouse Act 1927 is repealed and the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) would be empowered with additional power and functions.
