Kota (Rajasthan): Degrading the reverence given to the teaching community, a 47-year-old associate professor attached to the electronics department of the Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) allegedly made 'sexual advances' and sought 'sexual favours' from an engineering student. On learning about the incident, ABVP members attacked the professor. Meanwhile, police arrested the professor based on a complaint lodged by the student.

When the issue came to light, the Vice-Chancellor of the university SK Singh expressed his dismay and said that he is not aware of the incident and did not receive any complaint in that regard. "It seems that there is a gap between university management and students. The aggrieved student was supposed to bring the matter to our notice. It appears that students were scared and hesitant to approach us. The Probe Committee will conduct a probe into the incident, he said.
City Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Jain said they arrested the associate professor of the RTU Girish Parmar, who hails from Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan, but presently staying at Vasant Vihar Colony in Kota and Arpit Agarwal, a student, a resident of Mahavir Colony in Kota. On Thursday, the duo was produced before a court and was remanded in custody up to December 23. It may be recalled that on Tuesday night, a student lodged a complaint with the Dadabadi police station while another aggrieved student also came forward to lodge a complaint.
