Rahul Gandhi meets Bhaghel, TS Singh Deo at his residence in Delhi

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel and Health Minister TS Singh Deo met Rahul Gandhi Tuesday at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting assumes significance given the ongoing tussle between Baghel and Deo over change of leadership in the state.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Tuesday met Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and state Health Minister TS Singh Deo in a bid to resolve the ongoing power tussle between the two leaders. Chhattisgarh Congress in charge PL Punia is also attending the meeting.

Though Baghel's government had completed two-and-a-half years in office in June, Health Minister TS Singh Deo's supporters have raised the issue of rotational chief ministership. Though the Congress never mentioned about the issue in Chhattisgarh, Deo's supporters claim that he was promised to be made chief minister in the last two-and-a-half years of the regime of the present government following the 2018 elections.

Now, the meeting of both the leaders with Rahul Gandhi is expected bring to an end the suspense over the power tussle. The Congress has been facing similar issues in states of Punjab and Rajasthan, with senior leaders having taken on against each other.
