New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday handed over a 'chadar' to other leaders that would be offered at Ajmer Sharif on behalf of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on the 809th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.
Congress Minority Affairs Department Chief Nadeem Javed Rahul handed over the 'chadar' to Congress Minority Affairs Department Chief Nadeem Javed at 10 Janpath, the residence of Sonia Gandhi. Other leaders including Pawan Bansal, Rajiv Shukla, Pawan Khera, Haroon Yusuf, and Ask Ali Tak among others were also present.
Speaking to the media, Nadeem Javed informed that a delegation of Congress party will go to Ajmer and on Wednesday, the Chadar will be offered at the shrine of renowned Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress Chief Govind Dotasara will lead the delegation.

"The teachings of Khwaja Moinuddin were about unity, love, spreading peace and harmony across the world. This same message was given by Lord Ram, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela about humanity, love and peace. And now, Sonia ji and Rahul ji have asked us to take this message while offering chadar at Ajmer Sharif," Javed said.
Congress sends a chadar every year to be offered at Ajmer Sharif.
Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a chadar to Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who will offer it at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. This was for the seventh time that the PM offered a chadar for the Dargah.
