Jalandhar: Police in Punjab arrested five criminals and recovered deadly weapons from their possession in Chak Jhandu village in Jalandhar's Bhogpur area on Tuesday. The arrested criminals have been identified as Surinder, Sandeep, Manpreet, Lovpreet and Gurveer.
According to sources, acting on a tip-off the police raided a house at the back of the petrol pump at village Chak Jhandu in Bhogpur block where some alleged criminals were staying.

"During the raid, two people were arrested while the rest managed to escape. The suspects hid in the sugarcane fields in the area. After this, we called more forces and surrounded the area. Following it, three more people were arrested from the fields," an official said. "A case has been registered against the arrested criminals. 10 weapons have been recovered from them and they are currently being interrogated. The probe is still on," said SSP Swarndeep Singh.
