Priyanka Gandhi meets UP Congress leaders to discuss poll preparation

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a meeting with the party's advisory council and strategy committee to gear up Assembly polls 2022 preparations. The Gandhi scion is likely to visit Lucknow this week to kick-start preparations in the state.

New Delhi: Ahead of the most-awaited Assembly polls 2022 in Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has on Monday took stock of preparations with the party's advisory council and strategy committee. She is likely to visit Lucknow this week to kick-start preparations in the state and expected to stay there for a few days.

Sources told ETV Bharat, "The main agenda of today's meeting was to discuss party's preparations for the upcoming polls in the state. Priyanka Gandhi took suggestions from the state leaders. We have suggested that she should come over to Lucknow and start residing there. Also, from time to time small meetings should be addressed by state leaders to apprise her about the state issues."

This meeting was held virtually, today morning, and lasted for almost two hours. Senior leaders of Uttar Pradesh Congress including Salman Khurshid, Vivek Bansal, Rashid Alvi, PL Punia, Pramod Tiwari, Ajay Kumar Lallu and others were present in the meeting.

In view of the recent incidents that occurred in Uttar Pradesh during the nomination of block chairman polls, UP Congress blamed the state government alleging that it has failed in every aspect. The Gandhi scion accused BJP workers of spreading violence in the panchayat elections of Uttar Pradesh. She asked the state Congress workers to hit the streets amid the rising fuel petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder prices in the country.
