New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said BJP's win in the Assembly poll results have shown India and the world how strong people's faith in democracy and democratic institutions is. Addressing a gathering in New Delhi after the Assembly polls results of the three northeastern states -- Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya -- the PM credited BJP's consistent wins to 'triveni' of work, work culture of its governments, and its workers' commitment to service.
The PM further said that the way the northeast poll results have been extensively highlighted shows that the region is distant from neither 'Dilli' nor 'Dil'. "People from the North-East have realised that they are not ignored, they are given equal importance under BJP regime. I am happy that we found a place in their hearts," the PM added, addressing a huge gathering at the BJP headquarters in the national capital after the poll results.
Taking a dig at his rivals, Modi said minorities were made fearful about BJP for years but people of Goa and now from northeast have exposed the propaganda. He also highlighted how the Congress had ignored the northeaster states because 'they thought small states don't matter'. "But Congress did a huge mistake by thinking so. They don't know the power of these states," he added.
Modi also brought up the security and empowerment of women under BJP's regime across the country, stating that the country has not been safer for women before. Reiterating how the opposition always tries to bring him down and his party manages to succeed despite it, the Prime Minister said, "Some people keep saying saying 'mar ja Modi, mar ja Modi' (die Modi, die). But the country keeps saying 'mat ja Modi, mat ja Modi' (don't go Modi)." The Lotus is blooming and will keep blooming across India, he added, referring to his party sign.
Taking to Twitter after the address, Modi said that the BJP's win in the Tripura Assembly elections is a vote for progress and stability and added that the party will continue to boost the state's growth trajectory. "Thank you Tripura! This is a vote for progress and stability. @BJP4Tripura will continue to boost the state's growth trajectory. I am proud of all Tripura BJP Karyakartas for their spectacular efforts at the grassroots," he said in a tweet posted from his official account.
He earlier said that his party's win in Tripura is a vote for progress and stability and asserted that the party's government in the state will continue to boost its growth trajectory. Thanking people of the state, he added, "I am proud of all Tripura BJP karyakartas for their spectacular efforts at the grassroots."
