Gandhinagar(Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat has also visited his mother Heeraben Modi on the 100th year of her birthday at her residence, in Gandhinagar on Saturday. The Prime Minister's mother set her foot on the 100th year of her birthday. On this special occasion, Prime Minister Modi washed her feet and sought her blessings.
Speaking about her, Modi noted that she found happiness in joys of others, and had an exceptionally large heart. Reminiscing her sacrifices in his childhood years, the Prime Minister said that Abbas, a son of his father's friend, used to stay with him and his siblings till the completion of his studies. Modi recalled that his mother cared for Abbas "just like she did for all of us siblings".
"Every year on Eid, she used to prepare his favourite dishes," he noted. "Mother - is not just any other word in the dictionary. It encompasses a whole range of emotions - love, patience, trust, and a lot more. Across the world, irrespective of country or region, children have a special affection for their mothers. A mother not only gives birth to her children, but also shapes their mind, their personality, and their self-confidence. And while doing so, mothers selflessly sacrifice their own personal needs and aspirations," the PM wrote in a blog post.
"Today, I feel extremely happy and fortunate to share that my mother Heeraba is entering her hundredth year. This is going to be her birth centenary year. If my father had been alive, he too would have celebrated his 100th birthday last week" he said. "Ma, a very happy birthday to you. Best wishes as you start your birth centenary year. I have never been able to muster the courage to write at length publicly about your life until now. I pray to the Almighty for your health and wellbeing, and your blessings on all of us. I bow at your feet," the PM also said.
Alongside the ceremony, Modi also addressed a rally in Vadodara on Saturday, speaking at the Maa Kalika temple near the Pavagadh Hill area. Earlier in the day, he further addressed the Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan event, highlighting development initiatives being launched in the state to 'ease the living of people'.

According to the sources, after meeting with Hiraben, Modi will address a rally in Vadodara. The 100th birthday of Hiraben will be celebrated with a grand ceremony in Vadnagar. Programs of famous singer Anuradha Paudwal, folk comedian Gunwant Chudasama, Sundark and speaker Ketan Kamal and Jitu Rawal have been organized in Vadnagar to celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday. Special programs have also been organized in Hatkeshwar Mahadev to honour the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother.
