New Delhi: In a big boost for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a data firm, tracking the approval ratings of world leaders, has put the net approval for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a high of 55 percent. This is higher than any other world leader the firm tracks.
Morning Consult, which carries out surveys and researches globally, said in its latest survey that over 75 percent of people approve of Modi while 20 percent disapprove, making his net approval rating at 55. The survey was conducted across 13 countries and along with PM Modi, the popularity of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Australian Prime Minister Scott John Morrison has also substantially increased.
A similar figure for German Chancellor Angela Merkel is 24 percent while it is in the negative for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as more people disapprove of his work than those who approve it.
The approximate sample size of the survey in India was 2,126 with a margin of error of 2.2 percent, according to its website.
BJP leader Sudesh Verma told ETV Bharat, "The entire world knows the grit and determination with which PM Modi works selflessly for the nation and it is commendable. He is a skilled leader and takes decisive, informed and disciplined decisions after taking suggestions from experts. Even during the corona period, he took wise decisions for the welfare of the country."
"Peoples' lives should be saved first, economic conditions can be improved later. People have realized this and this is the reason for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's increasing popularity. Few people always castigate him and his decisions but whatever PM Modi decides, that is for the nation's benefit."
