Bengaluru: Several WhatsApp users have reported having received texts and a link to download the new, dangerous, Pink WhatsApp.

"Apply new pink look on your WhatsApp and enjoy WhatsApp new features," the message reads.

Ethical hackers have cautioned users to refrain from clicking the link attached with the above text. They fear this link could lead to a huge data compromise.

According to experts, the Pink WhatsApp comes with a prebuilt malware which, when clicked, automatically shares the same message with several numbers and groups the user is engaged with. Hackers can also access the user's location, contacts, SMS and camera if they are using an older version of Android.

"Think before you click," ethical hacker Raghotham Mruthike said.

What to do if already installed?

If a WhatsApp user has already clicked the link and installed the app, here's what he needs to do: Settings ->Apps ->pink WhatsApp -> clear cache and clear data -> uninstall.
