Karnataka: 3 crushed to death,12 hurt as pillar of under-construction building collapses

Three labourers died on spot and 12 were injured after pillar of an under-construction building collapsed in Davaganagere district of Karnataka. Condition of five workers remain critical

Davanagere:Three labourers died on the spot while 12 others were injured after pillar of an under-construction building collapsed on Thursday. The incident happened at the Shamanuru sugar factory in Kukkawada village, Davaganagere district of Karnataka.

This factory is owned by former minister, Congress MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa. Fire engines rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue operation. The Hadadi police team visited the spot and reviewed the incident.

The deceased labourers were identified as Manappa, Basappa, and Majid. Manappa and Basappa belong to Raichuru and Koppal districts. Majid hails from Kolkata.

The 12 injured labourers were taken to the Devanagere district hospital. Five labourers' condition is very critical. The pillar of the building collapsed while constructing the Ethanol unit beside the sugar factory.
