New Delhi: Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the NDA government over the Covid-19 situation in the country, Congress on Friday said Central Government for "missing" on the ground at the time of the Covid crisis.
Congress' such comments came after PM Modi's interaction with the frontline workers of his Parliamentary Constituency Varanasi. Reportedly, Modi had got emotional during the meeting.
While addressing a press conference, Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera said," If the PM sheds some tears in guilt today, will it wash away the pain and tears of those who lost their loved ones? Can PM’s tears wash away the grief of these people? People’s nonstop tears are more important than the PM’s."
Khera explained about the initiative, saying, "There are 2 levels of campaign Congress has launched, firstly, there would be an awareness drive about the absolute necessity for Vaccination, to make people understand the importance of vaccination. Then we would help people to get themselves registered, getting them slot and finally helping them to get vaccinated."
Congress General Secretary in-charge KC Venugopal also spoke over the matter, stating, "PM had said that this war will be over in 21 days. But, now, he is realising, this is a long war, but, for fighting this long war, how much precaution has been done by the Central Government, that the country is now asking. What precaution did you take?"
"As a deliberately negligent and callous leadership in the Central Government was caught napping during the second Corona wave, Indian National Congress and its frontal organizations, especially the Indian Youth Congress, have done stellar work in service of fellow countrymen, with dedication and humility, from providing free ambulance to hearse vehicles, arranging plasma donors to teleconsultations, from providing dry ration to food packets and even assisting in cremation and burial of the loved ones, Congress and its workers have shown the fortitude and resilience in the most painful times," Venugopal said.
