New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday yet again accused the Modi government of misusing the country's premier institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the CBI and the Delhi Police to arm-twist democratically elected governments.

“In Delhi, they tried to defeat us with the IT department, CBI, Delhi Police – but we won 62 seats. As we grow in Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, Gujarat – we get an ED notice! The people of India want honest politics- these tactics of BJP will never succeed, they will make us stronger,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Kejriwal's tweet on Monday came as a response to the ED notice on AAP national secretary Pankaj Gupta, asking him to appear before it on September 22. The agncy has summoned Gupta under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Kejriwal said the BJP government got the ED to slap a notice on Gupta as the AAP was gaining considerable popularity in Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Gujarat. Though the reason for the notice is not clear, it is being reported that the issue has connections with Punjab MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira.

Earlier, AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha had alleged that the BJP and the Congress had been using the CBI and the ED against the Kejriwal-led party as it was emerging as the strongest alternative to the two national parties.
