Purnea:Along the border of Bihar and Bengal, lies Bayasi panchayat in Tarabadi village with 800 people belonging to the Muslim community. Surrounded by water bodies from all sides, not a single baraat has ever come to this village since ages.

People are so scared to come to the village that they don't marry the girls from this village.

Despite the tall promises of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about his 'Saat Nischay' programme, Tarabadi still lacks basic facilities of health, education and medical treatment. Villagers complained that for every marriage to get solemnised, they have to travel to their relatives' place in distant places.

People are irked over the government's failure to deliver their promises despite repeated assurances.

61-year-old Rehbar Imam told ETV Bharat, "People of the village are entirely dependent on farming and animal husbandry but due to lack of transport in the village, people are compelled to go to nearby villages to complete the rituals and customs for a marriage."

He added, "The village is paying the cost of not having transportation and no baraat is willing to our village. We have only one boat and we have to wade through river waters to go to nearby places."

Another villager Mohammad Niyaz said that every year the village witnesses massive flood wreaking havoc on the lives of people.

On the other hand, 35-year-old Imtiyaz said, "We are heavily dependent on the cultivation of maize and grains but due to incessant rainfall, our crops are destroyed."

Most of the elders in the village dream to see their children getting married. But due to the lack of basic facilities, people from another village are not willing to send their daughters here. Most of the youth raised apprehensions that the absence of necessary facilities is creating hurdles in their marriage.

Locals complained that leaders across various political spectrums come only once-during elections. They said that leaders come and make big promises but have not fulfilled any of them but have not built a single bridge for them.
