New Delhi:After the Lok Janshakti Party's (LJP) national executive committee expelled its group of five rebel Members of Parliament (MPs), Pashupati Kumar Paras slammed Chirag Paswan on Wednesday. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Paras said Chirag has no authority to expel MPs and accused him of holding three positions that were against the party's constitution.

He also alleged that some anti-social elements of Chirag's faction are bent on ruining the party. "Five out of the party's six MPs are with me so I have not broken the party instead I saved it. I have no personal grievance against Chirag but he was making decisions which were not liked by anyone in the party," he said, adding that the party's new national president will be elected on June 17.

Paras stated that Chirag's decision to contest Bihar Assembly elections by breaking with the NDA was not acceptable to the party leaders but he still went ahead with it, and this was the main reason for the party's dismal performance. Earlier on Tuesday, Chirag was removed from the post of party's national president after an emergency meeting of the LJP national working committee. Suraj Bhan Singh was made the interim national working president and was authorised to convene a meeting of the party's national council.
