New Delhi:On the fourth day of the monsoon session of Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla conveyed his best wishes to the Indian athletes who are representing the nation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which commenced on Friday in Japan. The Lok Sabha Speaker extended his warm wishes to the Indian athletes after the commencement of the proceedings of the Lower House. A total of 127 athletes across 18 sports disciplines from India are participating in Olympics. This is the biggest-ever contingent India is sending to any Olympics.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended wishes for the successful conduct of the international multi-sport event. Congratulating Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and the people of Japan, he expressed hope that the best players across the globe will give their incredible performances in the competition. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, "Wishing PM @sugawitter and Japan the very best for #Tokyo2020 @Olympics and @Paralympics. We look forward to a season of incredible performances by the world's best sportspersons! @Tokyo2020."

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind also extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics ahead of the opening ceremony in the Japanese capital. He said that the hopes and prayers of the entire nation are with the Indian contingent participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He also expressed confidence that the Indian players will give their best and make the nation proud.
