Bhatkal (Uttara Kannada):An inquiry into the documents seized from a Pakistani-origin woman arrested from Karnataka's Bhatkal has hinted at a systematic network that might be facilitating illegal entry of people into India. Police said a detailed inquiry will be held to ascertain whether it was a one-off incident or a deeper network has been in operation.
During the raid at the woman's residence on June 9, the police had confiscated her basic documents that help deem a person a citizen of a given country. The police said the accused Khatija Mehrin's (32) documents were all fabricated. While her Aadhaar Card bears her Bhatkal address, her Voter ID has a Hyderabad address and her ration card carries a Bengaluru address. An investigation is underway as to how Khatija procured the three documents without Indian citizenship. The police are also investigating why the three documents bear different addresses.
