Oxford graduate turns farmer, takes up dairy business

Akshay, who is a graduate from Oxford University and studied business management from London, took up dairy farming and today provides employment to 40 people.

Ambikapur: Akshay, a graduate from Oxford University, could have easily got a decent corporate job with a plum salary but he finds joy in a dairy farm.

A resident of Ambikapur and having studied Business Management from London, he chose to launch his own startup of a dairy farm and is a proud entrepreneur today.

Akshay told ETV Bharat, "Pure and reasonably-priced milk and its products would be available soon. At present, I am busy researching how to possibly bring it in the market at an affordable yet reasonable price."

Akshay has 150 different cow breeds in his dairy venture and has even provided employment to 40 people. His startup would be registered soon.

He said special fodder is being given to the livestock to ensure that they get required protein, vitamin and minerals throughout the year.

Silage fodder is being used as it is cost-effective and has proved best for livestock, he informed, adding that it is prepared from maize by putting the plants in air-tight packets and it takes 60 days to prepare it.

Veterinary doctors also consider it a better option for the animals.

Chandra Kumar Mishra, a veterinary doctor, told ETV Bharat that the green fodder is essential for animals but it cannot be made available for the whole year so silage is the best option as the animals would get all vitamins, minerals and proteins.

People like Akshay would make a good role model for youth for their work which involves innovation and thinking out of the box.
