Mangaluru/Udupi (Karnataka):The mortal remains of senior Congress leader and former union minister Oscar Fernandes was shifted to his hometown in Udupi from Father Muller's Hospital in Mangaluru, about 70 km away, on Tuesday. His body was received at the Mother of Sorrows Church in Udupi following which prayers were held. His body was later shifted to the Congress Bhavan in Udupi to allow political leaders, Congress members and his well-wishers to pay their last respects to the veteran leader.
Fernandes' mortal remains will again be taken to the Congress Bhavan in Mangaluru for his well-wishers in the region to have one last look at their leader post which the body will be taken back to Father Muller's Hospital. The funeral ceremony will be held in Bengaluru, about 350 km away, on September 16.
