Open to state to give another chance to Shiksha Mitra teachers: SC

The Supreme Court said it will be open to the state to give another chance to Shiksha Mitras to compete for selection as assistant basic teachers in Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that it will be open to the state to give another chance to Shiksha Mitra teachers to compete for selection as assistant basic teachers in Uttar Pradesh.

The bench led by Justice UU Lalit pronounced the verdict in response to plea filed by Uttar Pradesh Shikshamitra Association in which the court had reserved its order on July 24 after days of hearing the case.

They had filed the plea against the cut off marks raised by the Uttar Pradesh state after the exam for recruitiment of 69,000 assistant teachers in 2019 was held.

Today, the court upheld the 60-65 cut off marks fixed by the state and gave no relief to candidates who will not qualify with the raised cut off.

The top court observed that the state has expressed its willingness to give one more chance to the candidates next year for selection and hence dismissed the plea.
