Gurugram:A 3-story building that housed the employees of a logistics firm collapsed in Gurugram's Khawaspur area on Sunday at around 7.30 pm, killing one person, said Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg. The official further informed that one person was rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment, while two others are feared trapped. "One dead after a three-story building collapsed in Gurugram's Khawaspur area. A person has been rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment. Two persons are feared trapped underneath the debris. Rescue operation is underway," said Garg while speaking to reporters. Earlier, DCP Rajiv Deswal had informed about the building collapse and had said that the fire brigade and police department were carrying out rescue operations. "We received a call regarding a building collapse. Fire brigade and police department are present at the spot and are undertaking rescue operations," DCP Deswal had said.
According to reports, four to five people are still trapped in the debris and efforts are on by the fire brigade, civil defense and NDRF to rescue those trapped under the debris. Though, two people were rescued at 11.30 pm, one among them succumbed to his injures. While the other is admitted to the hospital for treatment. The reason for the collapse of the building could not be ascertained. According to the locals, they heard a loud explosion and a cloud of dust covered the sky as the building collapsed. In this case, the negligence of the builder has come to the fore. Following the incident, BJP MLA Satya Prakash from Pataudi had also reached the spot. "I have got information about the whole matter. Strict action will be taken against whoever is guilty," the BJP legislator said.
