Vellore: Vellore Police on Tuesday said that they had nabbed a man for his involvement in the Jos Alukkas jewellery store robbery last week.
As per information, the loot was buried in a crematorium ground and has been successfully recovered. Police are also trying to ascertain whether more people were involved in the incident.
Police Superintendent Rajesh Kannan said that the robber was tracked by analysing CCTV footage from nearby areas. He also revealed that the suspect was learning burglary techniques by watching YouTube videos. "It has helped him drill a hole in the wall," he said.
According to A.G. Babu, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Vellore Range), "eight special teams were formed under the direct supervision of the Vellore District Superintendent of Police. They arrested the burglar within five days. After investigating in all possible ways we have recovered about 16kg of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 8 crore from the burglar. It is remarkable that police department made the investigation in both ancient and scientific method".
Taking to Twitter, the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Vellore hailed the work done by investigators in apprehending the accused and recovering the stolen jewellery.
