Not an inch of Tripura land for militancy, says CM Biplab Deb

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb took a strong exception to the recent militant ambush and said not an inch of land would be let to militant groups.

Agartala:Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb (বিপ্লব কুমার দেব) on Friday took strong exception to the recent militant ambush that killed two BSF (সীমান্ত নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী) troopers and said not an inch of land would be let to militant groups. Deb, who was addressing the media during the official launch programme of Tripura Tea Development Corporation's (ত্রিপুরা চা উন্নয়ন কর্পোরেশন) annual booklet, also said, “There was a time when Tripura saw massive insurgent movement, but now the situation is under control. However, some people have been trying to trigger tension in the bordering stretches of the state for what the BSF and Tripura police troopers were taking pre-emptive measures."

According to Deb, the blood samples were collected from the spot to ascertain whether any casualties took place on the opposite side (NLFT) too. "The results are still awaited," said Deb.

Speaking about fresh recruitments for the Tripura State Rifles, Police and SPOs, he said that the process, which was stopped midway due to the pandemic, will be resumed and completed within the next three months. “The recruitment process for the TSR, Police and SPOs will commence shortly. The state cabinet had given its approval. Exams to recruit candidates for manpower department will be held on August 22,” Deb said.
